Greenphard Energy Inc. is a Tokyo-based Climate Tech and GreenTech startup founded in 2021. By merging cutting-edge AI and IoT technology with Virtual Power Plant (VPP) mechanisms—the latest framework in the electricity market—we transform energy-consuming equipment, such as air conditioning and refrigeration systems, into "power-generating assets." By integrating and controlling these facilities at a regional level, we enable entire cities to function as virtual power plants, simultaneously achieving power grid stability and the widespread adoption of clean energy.

For clients who implement Greenphard’s systems and solutions, Demand Response (DR) creates new power resources from their HVAC and refrigeration equipment. These resources then contribute directly to the regional grid to generate new revenue streams, while also enabling dynamic energy savings to our clients. Our business delivers a significant dual impact, contributing to both social energy infrastructure and our clients' business success.

Our primary clients are companies that own and operate large-scale facilities with high energy consumption, particularly in HVAC and refrigeration—including food manufacturers, large-scale warehouses, commercial buildings, and major retail chains. Currently, we are rolling out installations across large factories, office buildings, and warehouses nationwide, with a focus on major corporations. In addition to energy savings and CO2 reduction, we are delivering tangible results such as providing new revenue through VPP/DR resource creation and enhancing productivity through DX (Digital Transformation) and GX (Green Transformation).

Most of the world’s major challenges, such as climate change and global conflicts, are rooted in energy issues. Tackling these issues is the key to solving a myriad of global problems. However, when faced with challenges of such immense scale, individuals often feel helpless and tend to become mere bystanders. But what if the actions of a single person could become a great force for change? I believe that if we prove this is possible, more people will be inspired to take action.

By “creating” energy resources from refrigeration, cold storage, and HVAC systems, even a single company can generate a massive direct impact. For instance, a single large factory or office building can reduce its CO2 emissions by hundreds of tons annually. At the same time, this contributes to the stabilization of the regional power grid and directly leads to an increase in the proportion of renewable energy available to the entire community.

While global decarbonization efforts are often swayed by international economic and political trends, we all feel the immediate reality of extreme weather. There is no more time to wait. At Greenphard, we refuse to be bystanders; we are determined to act and confront this challenge head-on.

My personal driving force stems from my childhood love for nature. Witnessing local mountains destroyed by development and wild animals being driven out of their habitats deeply saddened me. This experience instilled in me a lifelong desire to contribute to solving such environmental issues. After working on large-scale clean energy power plant projects at a major trading company and later leading satellite data solution development at a space startup, I gained a unique perspective on environmental challenges from both the ground and space. In 2021, I founded Greenphard Energy to fuse digital technology with power control to stabilize regional energy systems.

The challenges we face are immense, and the daily work is demanding. However, I believe that beyond these hurdles lies a world we can be proud to pass on to the next generation. While the road is difficult, I am incredibly grateful to work alongside exceptional global colleagues, customers, and partners. After serving as a project manager for large-scale wind, biomass, and solar power projects at a Mitsubishi Corporation group company, he Worked in business development for satellite data solutions at a prominent Japanese space startup. With experience of approaching environmental issues from both terrestrial and orbital perspectives, he founded Greenphard Energy in 2021 to contribute to decarbonization and regional power stabilization by fusing digital technology with energy systems.
